Ege University has carried out various activities in the fields of education, health and social protection in order to end poverty in all its forms everywhere according to the priorities targeted by 2030 all over the world. These activities can be categorized as scholarships for low-income students, part-time employment opportunities for students in need, free health services for students, free trainings and events for the public, social responsibility projects to end poverty, etc.

Ege University, which is aware that the students included in the bottom financial quantile within the scope of SDG 1start their university education and complete it successfully,is one of the most important supports it provides in this context.
Ege University Student Village
It provides uninterrupted service with an easily accessible management approach that is open to change in order to offer ourstudents who continue their education away from their families an environment that is as comfortable andwarm as a home and to keep their motivation for their education high. In the year 2023,
Ege University provided 6 students with housing scholarshipsat the Student Village. Ege University Student Village provided accommodation for 1999 students in 2003. In addition, 227 earthquake victims, 228 foreign nationals and 5 disabled students were accommodated.
The Republic of Turkey General Directorate of Higher Education Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK)
The General Directorate of Credits and Hostels is a public institution affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey,has a legal personality, is subject to the provisions of private law, and provides social services with a particular budget.
University students from the Republic of Turkey who are citizens are given financial aid by the KYK. Both undergraduate and graduate students can apply for loans and grants, which are given out according to merit and need. Additionally, KYK offers dormitories in every province for all students. The KYK often gives universities control over theoperation of dorms.

A total of 20.965 students were financially supported: 832 of these students received scholarships from private associations and foundations, 8312 students received scholarships from the Credit and Dormitories Institution, and 11.324 studentsreceived loans from theCredit and Dormitories Institution.

Part-time Work Opportunities
Ege University allows students to work part-time in their free time outside of class hours, in line with their interests and abilities in areas appropriate to their education, in order to provide both financial gain and improve their practical skills, as well as to contribute to meeting the workforce requirements of the units in auxiliary activities. In this context, 703 students had the opportunity to work part-time in 2023.

Meal Support and Scholarship
In the year 2023, a total of 2,177,307 meals were served to a total of 36,117 individuals, including students, and staff, in the university cafeterias.During the 2022-2023 academic year, 629 students received meal assistance.Ege University provided 497 students with food scholarships. Also, students only pay 38% of themeal fee and the remainder is covered by Ege University Also,Ege University Central Library provides 24/7 service during midterm and final exams,and students studying throughout the night are offered tea, soup, and pastries without fee in the university cafeteria.
Healthcare Support
In case of health problems, Ege University provides services to its students at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Campus Polyclinic and Ege University Faculty of Dentistry Polyclinic
located in the Health, Culture and Sports Department Building. Dermatology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Psychiatry Polyclinics are located within the Campus Polyclinic. Radiology and laboratory services are provided. In 2023, the Polyclinic provided health services to 10392 people, the majority of whom were students. In addition, students who do not have any social security (who are not under the security of their parents and who are over the age of 25) can apply to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and obtain a health card. Diagnosis and treatment of students without social security are covered by Ege University.
Psychological Counseling Support
The Department of Health, Culture, and Sports conducts individual interviews and organizes group therapies to help studentscope with their psychological problems. Psychological counseling services are provided by appointment and arefree of charge. In 2023, the unit counseled 2,536 students.
The unit's slogan is "Remember that you are not alone; you do not have to struggle with your problems alone.
You can apply to us for any psychological problem."
Erasmus+ Youth Mobility Support
Ege University received a grant of 1 million 18 thousand 60 Euros in 2023 within the scope of Erasmus

Ege University's free services
Transportation in the area between the Credit and Dormitories Institution dormitories and the student village within theEge University Central Campus is provided free of charge by the campus shuttle buses.
Internet Access Support : As a member of EDUROAM, Ege University provides free wireless network connection serviceto its academic staff, students, and users of other Eduroam member institutions with their portable devices.
Ege University Public Relations Branch Directorate signed 47 corporate discount agreements in 2023 within the scopeof “Corporate Discount” agreements for students, staff and graduates to benefit from the products and services of various companies at a discount.

Working Support as Project Staff/ Academic Scholarship
Ege University is one of the leading universities in the provision of Tübitak, BAP Scholarships to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. In 2023, 823 Ege University students benefited from research scholarships. NO POVERTY 2 In 2023, 612 out of 928 applications made by Ege University to the 2209-A programme and 87 out of 135 applications made by Ege University to the 2209-B programme were found eligible for support. Thus, Ege University ranked 1st in Turkey in the 2209-A programme and 2nd in Turkey in the 2209-B programme. In 2023, 50 students from Ege University received scholarships from the 2247- C Star Programme and 83 students received scholarships from the 2247-C-BİÇABA Programme.

Social Facilitses Service Buildings
Ege University, in the city of Izmir, a tourism leader, provides its students and employees with the opportunity to have a holiday that is 80% more affordable than current fees. A 6-day half-board accommodation service was provided for Ege University students in 2023 for a fee of 1750 TL, and for EÜ Staff and Public Personnel and 1st Degree Relatives for a fee of 2700 TL.During the 2023 summer season, 473 people were offered half-board accommodation. 3.361 people were provided with daily services.
