Ege University is converting organic waste into compost

At Ege University, significant work is being carried out to ensure the efficient use of resources, minimize waste generation, and promote recycling. As one of the 10 universities with the "Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Campus" label in the Higher Education Council's Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Campus Project, Ege University has taken another important step in waste management for a sustainable future. With the support of Ege University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak, a compost machine has been put into operation to recycle organic waste generated on campus. This daily-operated compost machine transforms grass clippings, raw vegetable and fruit scraps, cooked food waste, and tea and coffee dregs into compost, a good nutrient for soil, after a 24-hour processing period.
